Vinyl Siding

Vinyl is the most popular siding in the country for good reason: it's affordable, comes in dozens of colors and profiles, and never needs painting.

Why homeowners choose vinyl siding

Vinyl siding is made from PVC, with color that runs all the way through the material. Scratches don't show bare wood or primer, and there's nothing to scrape or repaint. Most homes just need an occasional rinse with a hose.

It comes in many profiles, from traditional lap and dutch lap to board-and-batten and shakes, plus a wide range of colors. Insulated vinyl adds a foam backer behind each panel, which stiffens the siding and adds a layer of insulation to the walls.

Installation quality matters as much as the product. Vinyl expands and contracts with temperature, so it has to be hung loosely enough to move, with proper trim, flashing and a weather barrier behind it. That's the difference between siding that stays straight and siding that ripples.

Vinyl Siding: common questions

Something we didn’t cover? Call (630) 901-6361 and ask Anna directly.

How long does vinyl siding last?

Quality vinyl siding that's installed correctly lasts for decades. Lifespan depends on the product grade, sun exposure and how well it was installed, which is why installation details matter so much.

Can vinyl siding be installed over old siding?

Sometimes, but we usually recommend removing it. That lets us check the sheathing for damage, fix any rot and install a proper weather barrier first.

Does vinyl siding fade?

Modern vinyl is made to resist fading, and lighter colors hold up best in strong sun. Some fading over many years is normal on the sunniest walls.

What is insulated vinyl siding?

Vinyl panels with a layer of rigid foam bonded to the back. The foam makes the siding stiffer and straighter and adds a little insulation to the wall.
